Joseph F. Bluni

Joseph Frank Bluni, born January 23, 1929, passed away on July 16, 2023. Joseph, better known as Joe or Papa Joe to his friends and family, was born to Vincent and Jennie (Gumina) Bluni in Brooklyn, NY. He met his wife, Santina Cellura, in Toledo in 1946 and instantly fell in love. They eloped on September 3, 1949. Together they travelled the world, visiting Italy, Sicily, Egypt, Australia, New Zealand and France as well as many other places. Joe worked for General Mills in Toledo, retiring in 1993. Joe was quite the character, known for his quick smile and love of telling long jokes. He was a very happy and loving person.

Surviving Joe are his loving children, Joanne (John) Knerr, Joseph V. (Sharon) Bluni, and Christina (Robert) Uliczny; grandchildren, Tina (Chris) Hassall, Stacy (Ken) Wright, Nicole (Rich) McKnight, Joy Bluni, Craig (Tina) Sobecki, and Cale (Tara) Sobecki; step-grandchildren, Jennifer (Tim) Bailey, Susan (Jody) Cutcher, Kristine (Brian) Heath, Laura (Dave) Scroi; 21 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, July 20, 2023 from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300), 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio. A Funeral Service will begin at 9:30 am on Friday, July 21, 2023 at the funeral home. Interment will immediately follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
