Jose Montalvo III will always be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin and friend, but most of all, an athletic enthusiast. In his younger years he was a golden glove national champion and an excellent golfer Winning high school championships. He selflessly gave of himself to help keep inner-city youth off the streets through sports. He coached several sports programs such as the CYO baseball Basketball & Little Dribblers league organizations in Texas Before Moving back to Toledo where he Also Refereed and Umpired.

He Coached ,AAU traveling teams, both girl's and boy's baseball and basketball & Soccer Jose also coached high school sports at various schools such as, Eastside Central, Scott, Waite, and helped out Central Catholic high school. Several students knew him as coach Montalvo; and to many others, he was more than Coach he was a father figure. He began his professional career as a City of Toledo Police Officer before moving to Texas. After several years, he returned home to Toledo, Ohio and began doing what he loved the most which was working with the community. He served on various boards and committees such as City of Toledo Parks and Recreation and the Warren Sherman Area Council. Jose always stayed committed to the community advocating for those who can't. He wanted to leave this world trying to make it a better place. He succeeded in this mission by seeing some of his youth succeed in Pro Boxing, NBA, NFL, MLB, WNBA and NCAA. During election time Jose was always seen out in the community encouraging people to vote, making sure that everyone's voice was heard. He loved to challenge those who knew him best and strongly encouraged those who had no hope to believe in themselves and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
