Johnny Ray Luntsford, Sr.

February 26, 1954 — December 15, 2020

Johnny Ray Luntsford, age 66, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2020 at Toledo Hospital. He was born February 26, 1954 in Jellico, Tennessee to Jimmie and Viola (Manning) Luntsford. Johnny moved from Kentucky to Toledo when he was a young child with his parents and siblings. He was a Truck Driver employed with Estes Express Lines for more than 27 years retiring in 2017. He was actually the 1st person hired with Estes Express when the company moved to Toledo. Johnny drove both long haul with his brother Clarence as well as local runs during his working years. He was awarded a million mile jacket from Estes for his no accident safe driving.

He enjoyed being outside. Golfing with family and friends and fishing any time the chance came about were always fun times. Johnny was also an avid collector of Matchbox Hot wheels, Dodge chargers were his favorite and at one point in his life Johnny owned a full size 1968 Charger. This was something he was happy to have experienced. Johnny was also a sports enthusiast following the Las Vegas Raiders.

Johnny always loved just being at home with his family. Family gatherings, holidays and most of the time just quiet evenings at home were the best times for him. He was a loving husband, father, papa, sibling and son always making sure others were taken care of.

In addition to his parents, Johnny was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, Jimbo and Becky; younger brother, Clarence; grandson, Hunter; father-in-law, Earl Carpenter, Sr; brothers-in-laws, Earl Carpenter, Jr., David Carpenter, Marceau Lobel, Patrick Ferris and sister-in-law, Naomi Estes Carpenter. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Betty "Boop" (Carpenter) Luntsford, ("babycakes" as Johnny would call her); sons, Johnny (Kristee) Luntsford, Jr. and Michael Luntsford; grandchildren, Mariah, Mikayla, Zack, Destanee, Aiden, Jayden and Alonza; siblings, Don (Bobbie) Luntsford and Cathy Crabtree; brothers & sisters-in-law, Karen, Sharon, Jim (Carole), Anna and Linda. Johnny will also be missed by longtime family friend, Marissa Morey and many special nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles, especially Uncle Ray (Shirley) Luntsford.
