Johnnie Glen Marlin, born in 1924 in Murfreesboro, Tennessee to Essie and Elbert Marlin. He graduated from Woodbury High School in 1942. Glen entered the Marine Corps in the following April. He served from 1943 to 1946 in the 6th Division in Guam, Guadalcanal, Iwo Jima, Okinawa and Tziatzo, China. Glen worked 30 years for L.O.F. in Rossford, retiring in 1979. After serving his country, Glen attended Vanderbilt University.
Glen is survived by his wife, Ella; daughter, Joyce (John) Erickson, Iron Mountain, MI; grandson, Gordon (Jennifer) Erickson, Negaunee, MI; granddaughter, Julie (Chad) Hanna, Rudolph, OH; sister, Jean (Paul) Montri, Sylvania, OH; great grandchildren, Caleb, Ava and Ella Erickson and Sadie Hanna; nephew Bruce (Beverly) Hickman; nieces, Cathi (Robert) Lydy, Georgena (Ron) Shaw , Debra (Chris) Clinton and Jozette Harris; sister-in-law and helpful caregiver, Bea Ireland. In addition to his parents, Glen was preceded in death by his great grandson, Isaiah Erickson.
The family will receive guests Wednesday, April 17, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo (419-473-0300). The family will also receive guests Thursday, April 18, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Graveside service and interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the charity of the donor's choice.
