Johnetta Gant, age 75, passed away on September 26, 2017, at Ebeid Hospice.

Johnetta was born on September 4, 1942 in Mississippi. Johnetta was married to the late Deacon James Gant and they were the proud parents of three children. She worked in the Toledo Community many years for the Toledo Board of Education, in the Cares program, and Cummings Zucker school. She also worked for Planned Parenthood. Johnetta had an extensive love for refurbishing and selling antiques. Her gift allowed her to pay for private education for her children. Johnetta has spent the past five years living in Texas with her daughter and granddaughter.

Johnetta had a loving nurturing spirit that touched everyone she met. She was a living example of God's love and peace. She reached out to spread the love of God to everyone she came in contact with, from the people in the church to the workers in the neighborhood dollar store. She was so cherished and loved by many people.

Johnetta is survived by her children Kobi Gant McDade of Texas, Derick Gant, Jim Gant, sisters Naomi Hodges of Georgia, Sheila Austin(Bishop George Austin) of Alabama, brother Owen Moore; grandchildren Jessica McDade of Texas, grandsons Jordan Gant, Devon Gant, Dallas Gant, Dawson Gant; special sisters Bishop Pat McKinstry and Ethel Penamon, and a host of loving family and friends.

Johnetta was preceded in death by her parents Owen and Clara Moore; husband James Gant; Sisters Treva Bowman, and Vicki Trail.

Memorials can be made in Mrs. Gant's honor to The Worship Center for Children's Scholarship.
