John Zimmerman, Sr.

John R. "Jack" Zimmerman, Sr., age 75, of Toledo, passed away Friday, July 13, 2007 in his home. He was born March 5, 1932 to Elmer and Mabel (Kern) Zimmerman in Toledo. John was raised in "Link's Hill" in Toledo and attended Macomber High school. John served 27 years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 1988. John enjoyed playing pool and was an avid collector of frogs and "Bette Boop" memorabilia.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his daughter, Monica Zimmerman and sister, Joann Norman. He is survived by his loving wife with whom he would have celebrated 52 years of marriage with in August, Beverly R. (Rieck) Zimmerman; children, John Jr.; Rory and Michael Zimmerman; grandchildren, Kristin; Melvin; Theresa; Joann and Elizabeth; great grandchildren, Terra; J.D.; Devon; Bruce Jr. and Monica Jean; brothers, Gene (Joyce) and Jim (Janice) Zimmerman; sister, Judy (John) Hirzel and best friend, "Tiny". John will also be remembered by a host of nieces, nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests Friday from 12-1:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Memorial Services beginning at 1:00 p.m.
