John Thomas Rodgers

John Thomas Rodgers, age 85, of Toledo passed away Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born April 17, 1928 in Lawrence County, Tennessee to Cicero Redden and Hautie Lou Rodgers. John was employed as a Machinist for St. Regis Paper Company. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and a very religious man, serving as a Deacon for South Toledo Baptist Church.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 67 years, Isabelle (Hodge) Rodgers; children, Thelma Rodgers-Staggs and John Thomas (Brenda) Rodgers, Jr.; grandchildren, Thomas (Frances) Clark, Richard (Connie) Clark, Stephanie Rodgers and Erik Rodgers;numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren ; siblings, Virginia Moore, Edna Boyd and Rex (Rita) Rodgers. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by grandson Macon Lee Clark; siblings, Carlene Quillen, Emma Staggs, Odell and Charlie Rodgers.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park Cemetery.
