John Tackett

John Henry Tackett, 76 years, of Toledo Ohio died on Wednesday, June 21st of 2023, at home. The son of Charles and Louise (Vaughn) Tackett Sr. He was born on July 1st of 1946 in Pineville, KY. He went to Bedford High School in Michigan. John worked for Asplundh tree service until he got hurt in 1987. John will be remember as a loving father and grandfather. He loved his music and he could never pass up the opportunity to go a flea market or antique store.

John was a collector of all things old. He especially loved old clocks. If you remember John, he was always haggling or bartering for a better price on those antiques. John was a friendly man who never forgot a face, and always had a smile for everyone. John would stop to chat with you if you were around him whether you knew him or not. And he always loved to brag about his children and grandchildren.

John is survived by the mother of his daughters, Mary Tackett Park; daughters, Laurie Smith, Scherry Tackett; brothers, Ray (Helen) Tackett, Charles Tackett Jr; sister, Lillian Tackett; 4 grandchildren, Kayleigh Smith, Mia Smith, Antonio Huerta, and Juanita Magdaleno; 2 great-grandsons, Xander Smith and Deacon Smith.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Louise Tackett; brother, Ike Tackett; sisters, Shirley McGuff, Ellen Louise Tackett, Sharon Prysiazny; brother, Bruce Tackett; daughter, Anita Lorie Tackett; and nephews, Richard Tackett and James McGuff.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel (419-473-0300), 4150 W. Laskey Rd, Toledo, OH, where a Funeral Service will be held on Friday, June 30, 2023 at 11:00 am. Interment will follow at Whiteford Union Cemetery.
