John P. Spohn, age 71, of Toledo, went into Jesus' loving arms Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born February 5, 1937 to Oscar and Vera (Fansler) Spohn in Toledo. John was a front-end loader operator with Maumee Stone Company for 20 years and an independent over- the- road Truck Driver for 15 years. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and cherished the time he was able to spend with his family and friends. He was also an avid card player.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, and 2 sisters. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Patricia (Townsend) Spohn; children, Donald Spohn; Theresa Berry; Darlene (Bill) Stark; Jerry (Judy) Spohn; Larry (Shelley) Spohn and Penny (Vincent) Henderson and Georgetta Bell (granddaughter); 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Alvin; Dennis and Oscar Spohn; sister, Helen Loga and several special nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Monday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Chaplain Paul Bierlein. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
