John Shank

John Shank, age 74, of Cape Coral, Florida, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 24, 2024. He was born on September 22, 1949 to Charles Sr. and Leona (Westerhaus) Shank in Toledo. John graduated in 1967 from Maumee High School. John worked for IUEC Local #44 Elevator Constructors for over 35 years before retiring and moving to Florida. He was an avid woodworker, could make anything with his hands, enjoyed boating, fishing, being on the water and spending time having a social drink and making friends. John also loved riding his Harley. His quiet demeanor, and spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved him. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandy. Left to cherish John’s memory are his siblings, Charles Jr. (Christine) Shank and Diane (Bradley) Graber; nephews, Rod (Julie) and Ryan (Kelly) Shank; Josh, Zack (BreAnna), and Clay Graber; niece, Nicole (Ben) Fenske; many great-nieces, great-nephews and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
