John Samuel Eggenton

John Samuel Eggenton, 90, passed away on December 6th, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife of 71 years Marjorie Jean (Commager), their three sons David (Jackie), Johnny (Kathy), Dana (Sharon), 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
He was born on December 24th, 1922 in Toledo Ohio to the late Ethel and John Thomas Eggenton. A former Ottawa Hills police officer, Chief of Police in Dundee MI, and semi truck driver, John retired from Willys Overland. John was awarded four purple hearts and a silver star for his military service in World War II.
His family wishes to give special thanks to the staff of Southern Care Hospice.
The family will receive guests Tuesday, December 10, 2013 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The memorial service will begin at 4pm in the funeral home.
