John R. Wolff, Sr., age 93, passed away on February 19, 2016. He was born on March 13, 1922 to the late Isabel and James Wolff.
John graduated from Libbey High School. He was a proud veteran of the Army Air Force and obtained the rank of SSgt. John was based in Okinawa during WWII, served in Pearl Harbor and was stationed in Georgia. He retired after 42 years at Dura Automotive. John was an entrepreneur for three years with his own trucking company. He loved old cars, especially his '37 Buick Sedan. John enjoyed going to the dirt racetrack and watching Nascar and Lawrence Welk.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, John R. (Lynette) Wolff, Jr., Donald L. Wolff, Thomas C. (Debbie) Wolff, James E. (Gracie) Wolff, Patricia L. Lute and William M. Wolff; 17 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandsons; nieces, Barbara Bagnato and Mary Ann Oess and nephew, Charles Serin. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 69 years, Doris Mae; daughter, Bonnie Jean Wolff; daughter-in-law, Catherine Wolff; son-in-law, Robert Lute; sister, Vivian Daugherty.
The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery.
