John C. Pinks, age 75, passed away peacefully with his daughters by his side after a battle with dementia, on February 12, 2024. Son of the late Charles A. and Irene B. Pinks. Adored father of Jessica (Chris) Skeels and Jacqueline (Kurt) Landis. Beloved grandfather of Gavin and Addison Landis. Brother of Mary Hysell. John will be dearly missed by his family members and friends.
John was drafted and served in the Vietnam War in June of 1968 until January of 1970. He served as combat engineer in the 8th Engineering Battalion 1st Calvary Division Pacific. After serving in the military, John began his career in home construction, and eventually opening his own business, John C. Pinks Custom Builders. Working in custom construction, John also spent time working with Habitat for Humanity as a Project Manager. John was a member of the Elk's Lodge and Port Clinton Yacht Club. He also served on the Ottawa County Home Builders Association. John was an avid fan of Ohio State football, Cleveland Browns, and the Cleveland Indians. Fishing, woodworking, bowling and spending time with his family are things he enjoyed most.
