John Vincent Phillips, age 75, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on April 24, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. John was born on October 13, 1947, in Binghamton, New York, to the late Vincenzo and Thelma (Arnold) Phillips.
John attended Chenango Forks High School in New York, where he graduated in 1966. He proudly served his country, in the U.S. Army during Vietnam, for 29 years. John was an animal lover to all, especially dogs. A wonderful man, dad, husband, and grandfather, he was always there with a smile, a hug, and support. He will truly be missed by all who knew him. Those left to forever cherish his memory are his loving wife, Sheila (Curlee) Phillips, whom he married on June 10, 1991; children, Maia Hallett, John Phillips, and Jordan Phillips; step children, Jennifer Boileau and Matthew Lintz; thirteen grandchildren, Andrew and Cameron Hallett, Jace and Evalyn Boileau, Thomas, Allison, and Michael Phillips, Zaidyn, Laylah, Nevaeh, Maze, Jasper, and Amenadiel Lintz; three great grandchildren, Calvin, Maxwell, and Lucy; sister, Susan Gregory; and half-brother, Paul Griffin.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-daughter, Jamie Lintz; and 2 sisters, Mary Romano and Karol Parsons.
Family and friends may visit at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1545 Eastgate Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614, on Friday, April 28, 2023, from 2:00 pm until the time of the funeral at 4:00 pm. A private family burial will take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2023, at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan, where John will be laid to rest.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Johns name to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's Hospital.
