John Martinez

John Martinez, Jr., age 61, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on June 24, 1945 to John Sr., and Maria (Rodriguez) Martinez in Tyler, Texas. John was employed with GM Powertrain for 30 and ½ years until retiring. He enjoyed playing poker, pool and darts.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond Martinez, step-son, Brian Birch and 8 brothers and sisters. John is survived by his loving wife: Pauline (Raymond-Birch) Martinez; children: John (Colleen), Steven (Heather) Martinez, Shannon Gardner and Marlene Birch; 6 grandchildren; father: John Martinez, Sr.; sisters: Dalia (Walter) Solarski, Delores Sarabia and Rosemary (Tony) Torres; brothers: Joseph (Diane), Gilberto and Daniel Martinez; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Thursday, December 28, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) from 5 – 8:00 p.m. Graveside Services will take place Friday at 1:00 p.m. at Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, MI.
