John G. Luna, age 92, entered into Heaven on October 16, 2016. He was born on February 8, 1924, in Wrightsboro, Texas.
An accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist John was a gifted trumpet player, a most talented saxophonist and a supreme pianist. John performed and was well-known throughout the Midwest sharing his love of Mexican serenatas, boleros, and all music including jazz, and polkas. He however was especially known for his love and accomplishment of Tejano music.
John had a remarkable memory and was sensitive towards injustice against Chicanos.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, Guadalupe Luna, Ruben J. Luna, Eva Luna, Micaela Luna, Andrea Luna, his beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his wife, Augustina Reyes Luna and son, Gerard J. Luna.
The Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Church, 738 S. Saint Clair, Toledo, OH 43609.
