John E. Langston Sr, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother, passed away on March 19, 2025, in Sylvania, Ohio, at the age of 76. Born on November 12, 1948, in Holland, Missouri.
After completing his education at Jesup W. Scott High School, John honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, exemplifying commitment and courage during a pivotal time in history. Upon returning home, he pursued a career at Daimler Chrysler, where he dedicated many years before retiring. His work was characterized by a strong work ethic and a deep pride in contributing to a leading automotive company.
John was a man of diverse interests and passions. He enjoyed fishing, relishing the serenity that each trip offered. He also found great pleasure in watching movies, often sharing these moments with his loved ones. John embraced life fully, taking trips to Las Vegas and after retirement visiting the local casino, experiences that brought him joy and excitement.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Langston; his children, Pamela (Tommy) Langston-Vaughn and John (Sheneka) Langston Jr.; and his cherished grandchildren, Arielle Martin, Tommy Vaughn Jr, and Marquan Langston, along with his great-grandchild, Isaiah Martin. John’s mother, Noble Langston, and his siblings, Thaddeus Langston Jr and Kim Nedd, remain as part of his immediate family. He leaves behind, 3 sister-in-laws, Verbie, Frances, Marilyn and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews all of whom will carry fond memories of him.
John was preceded in death by his father, Thaddeus Langston Sr, and his brothers, Larry Langston and Quincy Langston. Their absence will be felt deeply among those who knew and loved them.
Visitation will be held on March 24, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM at the Newcomer Funeral Home in Southwest Toledo, located at 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH 43614. Burial will follow at The Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
