John M. Kandik

John M. Kandik, age 75, of Petersburg, MI, passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2021. He was born on October 15, 1945 to John J. and Frances (Naile) Kandik in Toledo, OH. John was an avid golfer, card player and enjoyed going to Raceway Park. He was an excellent cook and loved preparing meals for the family gatherings. John was active with the UAW as the treasurer for many years. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Michigan State Spartans. John loved nothing more than spending time with his family, most importantly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Nancy Kandik; children, Elizabeth (Rick) Themm, Cynthia (Nelson) Mercer, Patricia (Timothy) Ziviski and John (Veronica) Kandik; 13 grandchildren and one on the way; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings, Sue (Jim) Emerine, Cindy (Mike) Globensky and Rodger Kandik; sisters-in-law, Patricia Long and Dianne Spare; brothers-in-law, Nick Spare and Larry (Linda) Spare; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation and Services for John will be Private at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300). Family will also have a Private Scattering Ceremony at Toledo Memorial Park to honor him.
