John W. Jorden

John W. Jorden, age 77, of Holland, Ohio passed away April 20, 2018 at his home, surrounded by his family. He was born March 8, 1941 in Massillon, Ohio to Walter and Frances (Meinhart) Jorden. John was a 1959 graduate of Central Catholic High School. He served his country in the U.S. Navy. John was an Ohio State Highway Patrol officer from 1964-1967. He worked as a Property Claim Manager in the Insurance Industry for 26 years. John was also a bus driver for Springfield Local Schools from 2001-2018, and a recess monitor at Dorr Elementary from 2001-2013. He was a life member of the Holland American Legion Post 646 serving as the financial officer and member of the Honor Guard. John also was a life member of the Toledo Elks Lodge #53. John was known as a talented artist and sign maker, and regularly provided his services to the community. John enjoyed NASCAR, golf and spending time with his civic organizations.

John is survived by his wife, Carol Jorden; children, Janice (Ernest) Szegedi, Therese (Stephen) Sadowski, Christy (John) Taylor and Robert Sundberg; grandchildren, Steven (Keeley) Sadowski, Jason (Keri) Sadowski, Jordyn (Justin) Sadowski, Ross McMunn, Stephanie Sundberg, Aimee (Robert) Ray, John Taylor, III and Michael Taylor; 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marcia Lentz, Dr. Robert (Sherry) Jorden and Monica (Ace) Daniel; nephew, Paul Jorden and niece, Lauren Jorden. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Charles Lentz; aunt, Eleanor Longworth and cousin, Patrick Jorden.

The family will receive guests Friday, April 27, 2018 from 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where the American Legion Post 646 will hold a service at 6:30 pm. Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 12:00 pm at the funeral home where the family will receive guests at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital or Hospice of Northwest Ohio in John's memory.
