John J. Parker, age 61, of Toledo, passed away suddenly on Thursday, February 14, 2013. He was born June 1, 1951 to John J. and Virginia (Krolak) Parker in Toledo. John proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Japan during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of Alliance of Poles of America, Circle 8; American Legion Post #642 and Catholic War Veterans Logsdon-Walla Post #639. John worked for Champion Spark Plug, Horizon Industries and most recently he worked for the Lucas County Facilities Department. He was an avid Notre Dame football fan, enjoyed bowling and loved spending time with his precious grandchildren. Over the years, John hosted many potlucks and Christmas dinners and enjoyed outdoor barbecuing for his family. He also was a talented gardener; he won several floral awards through the Toledo Botanical Gardens for his work.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 40 years, Emi (Koga) Parker; daughters, Pamela Major and Sherry Parker (fiancé, Ben Jarrett); grandchildren, Joshua, Jordyn and Sarah Grace; sisters, Judy Parker and Debbie Parker; nieces, nephews and cousins and beloved pets, Kodi and Oskar. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his aunt, Lucille Krolak.
The family will receive guests from 2-8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Rosary will be recited by the Catholic War Veterans Logsdon-Walla Post #639 in the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Thursday, February 21, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Park.
