John J. Lavoy

John Joseph LaVoy, age 87, of Toledo OH passed away Thursday Sept 19th at home. He was born on November 7, 1925 to William and Pearl LaVoy. John loved playing all kinds of cards, but especially a good game of Euchre with family and friends. He also liked keeping up with all the ball games on TV. John joined the Navy in 1943 and later completed a carpenter apprenticeship in 1949. He remained a carpenter for over 35 years until his retirement.

Left to remember him are his three children: Patricia Garcia (Rudy, deceased), Michael LaVoy, Beverly Yingling (Melvin, deceased); five grandchildren, Laura Casey, Corrina Walbolt, Mateo Garcia, Miqueas Garcia and Angilla Hoot and 7 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Dorothy (Berndt) LaVoy. Also deceased are his siblings: Robert, Richard, Dorothy, Helen and Mary and other half-siblings.

The family will receive guests on Tuesday, September 24, 2013 from 3-4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home at 4:00 p.m. Inurnment will take place in Toledo Memorial Park at a later date.
