John G. Hilkens

John George Hilkens passed away peacefully on February 4, 2023 in his home in Toledo, Ohio - the place of his birth. He was 95 years old.
John was born on October 18, 1927 to Elsie (Clare) and William Hilkens. He attended Central Catholic High School. He went on to work at Shrader Tire and Oil for 50 years, during which time he retired as Vice President.
John was a kind and caring man who was always ready with a joke or to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Nancy Hilkens, whom he was married to for 69 years before her passing in July 2022.
John is preceded in death by his parents; Elsie (Clara) and William Hilkens, his wife Nancy Hilkens, sons William and Richard Hilkens, brothers William and Thomas Hilkens, sisters Lucile Riebe and Louise Hilkens.
He is survived by his daughter Connie (Achille) Buzzelli; granddaughters Carrie Goebel and Cami Buzzelli; grandson Tim Perry; great grandsons Jayson and Justyn Goebel; brothers Daniel and David Hilkens
John will be remembered fondly as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He touched many lives with his wit and generous spirit - may he rest in peace.
The family would like to thank the nurses at ProMedica Hospice for their loving care and support during this difficult time.
Family and friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio, 43623, on Friday, February 10, 2023, from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 pm. Following the service, John will be laid to rest at Toledo Memorial Park.
