John S. Fisher, age 58 of Toledo, passed away Sunday, May 21, 2006 in the Toledo Hospital. He was born August 6, 1947 to Bert Edward and Betty Lou (Duke) Fisher in Toledo. John was a U.S. Navy Veteran, serving his country proudly with 2 tours of duty in Vietnam. He was a longtime resident of Ventura California, just recently moving back to Toledo. John was employed with Hayward Baker in California for more than 20 years. He was also a member of Horizon Church in California for 8 years. John was an avid outdoorsman enjoying hunting, fishing and scuba diving. Most importantly he cherished the time spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
John was preceded in death by his father, Bert Edward Fisher; nephew, Dennis Ashley Fisher and uncle, Charles Fisher and aunt, Estermae Caswell. He is survived by his mother, Betty Lou Fisher; son, Bruce Matthew (Robin) Fisher of Bishop, CA; daughter, Rebecca Dawn Fisher of Middletown, RI; grandchildren, Wyman Fisher and Andrew Doughty; brother, Dennis Errol (Pita) Fisher of Milbong, Queensland, Australia; sisters, Karen Jean (Christopher) Cooley of Piqua, OH and Suzanne Denise Fisher of Toledo; niece, Vaness Fisher; nephews, Jonathan David Cooley; Shane Christopher Cole and Jason Edward Cooley; friends, Francis and Gloria Gularte of Ventura, CA and many extended family members and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Tuesday from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Officiating will be Pastor Andy Hill.
