John Frederick Erler
John Frederick Erler, 78 years of age, passed away surrounded by his loving family Thursday, July 3, at Hospice of NW Ohio.
John was born January 26, 1925 to William F. Erler and Carolyn (Shragg) Erler in Toledo, Ohio.
John graduated from Devilbiss High School and went on to serve in the US Navy during WWII. He received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Marquette University in 1945.
John went on to found and own several companies in Ohio and Indiana during his career as an entrepreneur. These include Erler Pattern & Model, John Erler Industries, Toledo Molding & Die, Erler Corporation, Oxford Industries and American Design & Engineering.
John is survived by his wife of 53 years Grace (Stout) Erler; sons Jon Mark of North Vernon, IN and William F. II of Spokane, WA; daughters Karli Sullivan of Spokane, WA and Carolyn Erler of Minneapolis, MN; sister Mary Houk of Suttons Bay, MI; five grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, and close friends.
A private family memorial service will be held at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park. Memorial offerings may be made to Hospice of NW Ohio, 30000 East River Rd., Perrysburg, OH, 43551.
