John E. "Ed" Krenk, age 66, of Toledo, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at The Toledo Hospital. He was born in Toledo on January 27, 1948 to John G. and Josephine (Semelka) Krenk. Ed was a graduate of Sylvania High School. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam War and retired from Chrysler-Jeep after 33 years of dedicated service as Team Leader and Alternate Steward. Ed was a lifelong member of the VFW Post #2898 and a member of Sylvania Moose Lodge # 1579.
He had a kind heart for all animals especially rescue dogs that he gave a wonderful home to. Ed loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, custom Jeep's, the Cleveland Browns and his Budweiser. Many people that knew Ed, knew him for his strong personality…. He was an absolute character and loved a good laugh. He will be remembered as a loving and supportive husband, father and grandfather and he will be deeply missed by those who loved and knew him.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 30 years, Bonnie (Mierzwiak) Krenk; son, Justin D. "J.D" (Christah) Krenk; step-son, Johnny P. (Andrea) Cappelletty; step-daughter, Buffie (Matt) Cappelletty; grandchildren, Maegan (Lee) Vogel, J.P. "Rook" Cappelletty, J.J. Vogel, Randon, Gabe, Wyatt, Taylor, Alexxa, Chance and Cole; mother and father-in-law, Henrietta and Kenneth Tenney; dear friend, Clark (Debbie) Blackford; host of many other friends; beloved canine companions, Maggie and Molly. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, John and Josephine Krenk.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, April 12, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Memorial Services will begin in the funeral home at 5:00 p.m. followed by VFW Post #2898 Services and military services by the Lucas County Veterans Burial Corps.
