John Thomas Deck
March 18, 1931 — December 10, 2020
John passed from death to LIFE with open arms meeting his Lord and Savior Jesus Chris face to face. He had a relentless passion for sharing the "Good News" of salvation in Christ with everyone he met. John understood, it's not how good you are, but who you are. No matter who he met, at some point he would ask, "Do you know the Lord?". John took every opportunity to share the saving grace, Gospel of Christ.
He was born March 18, 1931 to Charles and Agnes (Deaimer) Deck in Toledo Ohio. John was employed with Jeep and Autolite for many years.
He had many jobs and many hobbies his lifetime. The hobby he was most passionate about was collecting rocks, minerals and gems, many of which he mined himself. John built up an extensive collection over the years from all over the world. There were many times he gave these treasured keepsakes away, to the delight of each recipient. John also knew things and events in this world were temporary. He always said you can't out give God and he lived his life accordingly.
John was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Katherine Deck, and Gail Dimasso Deck. He is survived by his son Kendal (Johanna) Deck of Temperance, MI; stepsons, Rodney (Denise) Dimasso and Joseph Dimasso of McKinney, TX and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, December 21 2020 at Bedford Church of the Nazarene, 7850 Douglas Rd., Lambertville (2 miles north of Alexis) beginning at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Pastor Vince Flippo and Chaplain Tim Rabara.
A special thank you to all of the nurses, caregivers and staff at Oakleaf Village and The Grove and Ohio Living Hospice for the extraordinary compassion and loving care you provided for John. You all truly make a difference.
