John K. "Jack" Dawley, Sr., age 76, of Sylvania, passed away Friday, March 10th, 2006 in Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Perrysburg. Jack was born August 18, 1929 to Ralph and Themla (Dunnett) Dawley in Toledo. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served his country during the Korean War. Jack was a very skilled mechanic that was known to be able to fix anything. He also enjoyed collecting and restoring several vintage cars, including four Model A's. Jack held a membership in the Model A Restorers Club. During his working years, Jack owned and operated Dawley's Sohio in Sylvania for 19 years. He also worked with the DeVilbiss Company from 1972-1987 when he retired. Jack was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and he cherished the time he spent with family and friends. He was a longtime member of Emmanuel Baptist Church and his family is greatful for the loving care and support he received from all the members, especially Pastor & Mrs. Bruce Snyder.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his brother, James Dawley. He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Rosemary (Terry) Dawley; sons, John (Sue) Dawley, Jr.; Brian (Jan) Dawley and Terry (Lynn) Dawley; grandchildren, Sarah; John III (fiancé: Noelle); Christie and Anna; sister, Bartha (David) VanVlerah and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Bruce Snyder. Entombment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
