John D. Jones, age 58, of Toledo, passed away on Sunday, August 25, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania. He was born April 1, 1955 to Ova and Anna (Manning) Jones in Toledo. John grew up in West Toledo and graduated from Start High School. For the majority of his career he worked as a machine shop foreman for C.M. SliceChief. He developed a love of fishing at a young age. He and his father Ova spent many hours fishing on Lake Erie. He enjoyed cooking and held many fish fry's for family and friends. Over the years he became a jack of all trades. John was known for sewing machine and leather repair and also spent time as a chauffeur. He was always willing to help a friend in need and if he couldn't do the work himself, he "knew a guy" who could. John was outgoing and a fun loving person, it seemed everywhere he went he knew somebody but most essential to John was the love for his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his one and only, Linda Jones; son, Nicholas (Ashley) Jones; sister, Melody (Patrick) McKinley; mother in law, Alice Chiappori; sister in law, Kathy (Mark) Foletta; nephew, Luke (Heather) McKinley; nieces, Brittany (Chad) Gessner, Megan (Chris) Kronovich, Kortney (Kyle) Nieckarz, Lindsay and Hannah Foletta; 13 great nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, John Chiappori.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2:30 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Friends are invited to gather with the family starting Thursday at 7:30 p.m. for a Sharing a Memories service.
