John Cyril Southward

John Cyril Southward, 91, passed away on December 22. John was born to Richard J. and Margaret (Dent) Southward in Toledo on August 19, 1919. He was a graduate of Waite High School, where he played on the varsity football team. He served in the army of the United States from 1941 to 1946, during which time he was in the 5th U.S. horse cavalry as well as having served in the China, Burma, India theater. He was an active member in the Toledo Basha of the CBI Veterans Association. After the war, he worked at the Electric Autolite Co. and retired from the U.S. Postal Service after many years of service.

John was proceeded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth (Davis) Southward. He is survived by his sons, Roger Southward of Toledo, and David (Tina) Southward of New Mexico. as well as his granddaughters, Alison Southward, Emily Bean and Shauni McClung, his grandson, Michael (Cecelia) Southward of San Diego, CA. and great granddaughter, Madilyn Rose Southward. He is also survived by his brother, Robert (Margaret) Southward of Columbus, OH and their children, as well as his niece, Carol (Ken) Ferguson, and nephews, Robert (Colette) Seymour and Patrick (Jeri) Seymour.

He has been cremated and will be laid to rest in a private Graveside Service in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Mark's Episcopal Church on January 15 at 11:00 a.m.
