John Ben Croley, Jr.

John Ben Croley, Jr., age 77, of Waterville, Ohio passed away on Saturday, September 2, 2023 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, with his five children by his side. He was born on August 16, 1946 to John and Effie (Lawson) Croley, in Jellico, TN. John graduated from Whitley County High School, and attended and graduated from Stautzenberger College in Business Administration.
John retired from Cross Chemical as the Vice President of Sales. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam war, serving with distinction in the Army's 101st Airborne Division, where he was awarded the Combat Infantry Badge, the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart, and Army Commendation Medal.
In his earlier years, John enjoyed fast cars and riding motorcycles. He also enjoyed golfing, fishing, working in the yard and enjoying the outdoors and sunny afternoons. His friends and family remember him as being witty, generous and always helping people in their time of need. He will be remembered for his dedication to work and family.
In addition to his parents, John and Effie Croley, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Judy (Boatfield) Croley, brothers Earl and Vernon Croley, sister Laura Jane Leach. John is survived by his children David Royston, Sherri Hauck (Steve Coutchure), Melissa Croley (Leonard Jones), John (Cindy) Croley and Ryan (Annie) Croley, grandchildren Carl, Logan, MacKenzie, Abby, Spencer, Drew, Ethan, Lauren and Rigdon; sisters Rosie Lawson and Faye Dotson; brothers Wayne Croley and Arvil Croley; brother-in-law Thomas (Karen) Boatfield, as well as many dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Road, Toledo (419-473-0300) with funeral services at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tommy Youngquest officiating. A private family burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park, where John will be laid to rest next to his loving wife.
