John Charles Gilbert

John Charles Gilbert, age 61, of Holland, Ohio passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, September 17, 2013. He was born May 13, 1952 in La Porte, Indiana, to Richard and Mary Lou Gilbert. John served in the U.S. Air Force for 5 years, during the Vietnam War. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from Purdue University. John was employed as a Robotic Engineer for Kuka Robotics, for 7 years. A devout man, John enjoyed attending Christian conferences and sharing his faith with others.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Linda Cruz-Gilbert; son, Kevin Gilbert; mother, Mary Lou Gilbert; stepsons, John (Marcia) Cruz and Michael (Jill) Cruz; siblings, Mark (Wanda) Gilbert, Ruth (Norman) Gilbert, Becky (Tim) Gilbert, Timothy (Kim) Gilbert and Florence (Steve) Gilbert. In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his sister, Elaine (Strause) Gilbert

The family will receive guests Friday, September 27, 2013, from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 28, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Maumee. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial contributions to the Benevolence Fund at Vineyard Church, 210 East South Boundary Street, Perrysburg, Ohio 43551.
