John O. Berger

John Berger went to be with his Lord and Savior on February 14, 2018. He was born on August 19, 1926 to the late Katherine and Alfred Berger in Toledo, Ohio.
After graduating from Macomber High School in 1944, John went directly into the U.S. Navy where he served for two years as an Electrician on the Destroyer USS Steinaker DD-863. John and his wife Marilyn (Ehlert) were married 1947 and enjoyed 70 years together.
John was employed at Gerlinger Equipment Company and Owens-Illinois where he enjoyed his work in the Glass Research Department at the Tech Center until his retirement in 1986.
John was preceded in death by his brother, Glenn; sisters, Mildred, Olive and Lydia and his son, Loren. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; sons, Ronald (Betty) and Bret; sister, Shirley and grandsons, Aaron, Ronald and Joshua.
The family will receive guests on Sunday, February 18, 2018 from 12-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be private.
The family would like to thank Hospice of Northwest of Ohio for all of their care and compassion during a difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to: Hospice of Northwest Ohio or a charity of the donor's choice.
