Joel A. Scott

Joel A. Scott, 69, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2024. Joel was born in Toledo to parents Albert and Mary (Hammond) Scott. He proudly served in the United States Army and was most recently employed with Fred Cristen and Sons, where he worked as a roofer for many years before retiring.

Joel was a man of the outdoors, spending much of his time hiking, fishing, and exploring nature. He frequented the Metroparks and was often found making his own trails through the woods collecting abandoned golf balls and catching crawdads. Joel enjoyed long drives on country roads, firing up the grill, and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was the biggest supporter of his loved ones and generous with both his time and charitable donations.

Joel is survived by his wife, Maryl Cannan; daughter, Janice (Pisello) Davis; sisters Janie and Teddy; brother Scotty; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings Tom, Judy, and Becky. 

Friends and family are welcome to celebrate Joel’s life at the Sylvania Moose Lodge 1579 on Sunday, December 29 at 12pm. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Metroparks Toledo and the Wounded Warrior Project.
