Joe L. Turnbough, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 29, 2024. Joe was born in Margaret, Alabama, to his parents, Rosa Lee Humphrey and Otha Lee Turnbough. He lived and attended school in Margaret until he was 14 years old when the family moved to Toledo, Ohio. He was a 1955 graduate of Jesup W. Scott High School. Joe was a 40 employee of UniCast and he retired from Johnson Controls at the age of 62. He was a faithful 60-year member of People's Missionary Baptist Church. Joe was a dedicated family man. He enjoyed being in nature and made sure his children did too. Joe loved fishing, boating, hunting wild game, archery, and skeet shooting.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Jessie Mae, his son Reverend Robert Hamilton, his daughter, Rosa Lee Turnbough Green, brothers Davertie, Otha, and Starling, and sister Dorcene. He is survived by his children Barbara Hamilton, Joe (Rochonda) Turnbough Jr, Charles William (Renee) Turnbough Sr. Janie Lynn McNeal, Joanne Turnbough, 14 grandchildren, a host of great-grandchildren, friends, and family.
Services will be held at People's Missionary Baptist Church, 1101 Heston on February 17. Wake at 11 am, homegoing service at noon. Arrangements provided by Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, Ohio 43614.
