Joanne Hamann

JoAnne (Herbster) Hamann, age 89, Whitehouse, OH, passed away peacefully Tuesday, June 7, 2022. She was born on December 9, 1932 to William and Beatrice (Smith) Herbster in Toledo, OH. JoAnne graduated from Whitmer High School. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking and was an excellent seamstress. JoAnne loved spending time at the cottage at Sweezey Lake in Norvell, Michigan with her family. She also liked to camp in Flagler Beach, Florida with her husband Tom. They often took motorcycle or camping trips yearly across the country making many friends. JoAnne's pride and joy was her family. She loved nothing more than spending time with all of her grandchildren. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Hamann; sisters, Shirley Rice and Beatrice Howe. Left to cherish JoAnne's memory are her loving children, Mark (Sue) Hamann, Christine (George) Prince, Michael (Kim) Hamann, and Cathleen (James) Whitmore; grandchildren, Erica Hamann, Rachel Hamann, Samantha Hamann, Megan Lyons, Kyle (Lindsay) Prince, Veronica (Erik) Nagucki, Jessica Hamann, Jacob Hamann, Joshua Hamann, Thomas Whitmore, Juliet Whitmore, and Imogen Whitmore; great-grandchildren, Davis and Myles Prince, and Elijah and Jonah Nagucki; brother, Robert Herbster; many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.

Visitation and Services for JoAnne will be Private at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300).

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider the Cherry Street Mission or Zion Lutheran Church.
