JoAnn B. HitchinsJoAnn B. Hitchins, age 87, of Toledo, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 25, 2017 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
She was born on October 13, 1929 to Clifford and Edith (Lober) Cope. JoAnn graduated from DeVilbiss High School and worked at Lamson's Department Store and also the University of Toledo Bookstore. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and a longtime member of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. JoAnn was an avid cook and far ahead of her time in her use of interesting herbs and spices. She had a love of gardening and grew many of her own herbs which she used to enliven even the most simple of dishes.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, William "Bill" Hitchins; children, Mark (Ellen) Hitchins, Laura Pryor (Tony Kirkwood); grandchildren, Natasha West (Jason Cook), Ciara Pryor and Germaine Pryor; and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a private memorial service at Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Saturday, July 1. Burial will be private.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Toledo Botanical Gardens.
