Joan Carmella Zukowski

Joan Carmella Zukowski, age 93, resident of Toledo, Ohio, went to be with the Lord on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at Sunset Village Nursing Home. She was born on October 4, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio.
Joan, known as Busia to many, was an amazing cook, especially with making famous polish recipes; a few of her favorites being Pigs in a Blanket and Chicken Paprikash. She had a spunky personality that followed with a wonderful sense of humor, wit, and love. Joan had a very kind soul; she couldn't say a bad thing about anyone. She was one to keep busy; helping anyone who needed it whether they wanted it or not. Joan loved her family; they were very important to her. She had worked as a homemaker, taking care of her husband and children, which gave her the ability to help raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. The times spent with her children, grandchildren, and sisters, were moments she cherished.
Those left to forever cherish her memory are her four loving children, Gregory Zukowski, Robert (Karen) Zukowski, Gary (Denise) Zukowski, and Debra Mitchell; six grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Jo Dugan and Louise Rejent; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Melvin Zukowski; eight siblings; and son-in-law, Douglas Mitchell.
Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, from 4:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will take place on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, at the funeral home, at 10:00 am. Joan will be laid to rest, next to Melvin, at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
