Joan Theresa Young

Joan Theresa Young , age 87, of Toledo, passed away November 7, 2022 at home. Joan was born January 24, 1935 in Ottawa Lake, MI to Ludy and Lucy (LaPointe) Knaggs. She was a 1953 graduate of Bedford High School Shortly after, Joan went to work for the former DeVilbiss Company as a secretary. She retired from there before the birth of her first child. She married James Harget in 1958 and they had five children. He died in 1979. Joan began working partime at Minnesota (Hancock Fabrics) for 15 years. Joan was an avid walker, reader, puzzles, sewing , and arts & crafts. She married Edward Young in 1991 whom she had dated 35 years earlier. She enjoyed making Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren. She volunteered sewing comfort pillows for hospice and sewed baby quilts and layettes for Heartbeat Toledo. Her favorite time of the year was Christmas and enjoyed the parties she would attend. Joan loved her family and attending her children's and grandchildren's sports and school events.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Renée (Robert) James, Kelly Harget; son, Douglas Harget; grandchildren, Elissa, Jeremy, Seth, Derek, Justice, Cooper, Jasik; 6 great grandchildren; brothers Melvin and Howard Knaggs. She was preceded in death by her husbands, James Harget, Edward Young; sons, Craig and Todd Harget.

The family will receive guests on Friday, November 18, 2022 from 4:00 -7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home-Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a memorial prayer service at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
