Joan Szymkowiak

Joan Szymkowiak (Benner), age 86, of Toledo, passed away December 4, 2016 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born August 18, 1930 to Arthur and Martha (Loos) Benner in Detroit, Michigan. Joan was a homemaker and lived a fulfilling life enjoying simple pleasures, she was happiest visiting with friends and family. She had a wonderful smile and a kind word for all those she met.

She was preceded in death byher husband of 57 years, Harry Szymkowiak, whom she married June 24th, 1950; sister, Jackie Blazetsky; brothers, Robert, Richard and Arthur Benner; and son-in-law, Larry Price. Left to cherish her memory are sons, Craig and Greg Szymkowiak; daughters, Renee (Robert) Fox, Pam Price and Dawn (Peter) Stevens; sister-in-law, Charlotte Benner; brother, Jim (Davine) Benner; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Services were Private and Inurnment was at Toledo Memorial Park. The Newcomer Funeral Home – NW Chapel (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
