Joan Smith

Joan Smith, age 71, of Toledo, passed away Thursday, March 23, 2006, at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. She was born on June 23, 1934 to Joe and Anna (Fredericks) Crawford in Knoxville, TN. Joan was a member of Athens Missionary Baptist Church, often enjoying cooking for them and lending a helping hand. Later in life she was eager to travel and see different places.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Oral Crawford, sister Bessie Richardson and brother-in-law Lloyd Hale. Joan is survived by her loving husband of 51 years: David; son: David (Patricia) Smith, Jr.; grandchildren: Matthew, Steven and Anna; brothers: William (Evelyn), Jack (Norma) and John (Elsie) Crawford; sisters: Flora (Harlan) Bray and Carol Hale; and sister-in-law: Bertha Crawford.

The family will receive guests on Sunday, March 26, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo, (419-473-0300) from 1:00 – 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 7:00 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Robert Loemker and Rev. Robert Jones. Interment will take place in Clearfork Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
