Joan R. Sampsell, 80, passed away peacefully on November 12th, 2011 at her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on February 19th, 1931 in Ida, Michigan.
Joan was an avid country music fan and has passed that on to her girls. She loved working puzzles and crosswords. Joan was a strong woman; she was very open-minded, independent and hard-working.
Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Lois Todd (Seem) and Merle Todd; son, Gary Lee Sampsell and brother, Herbert Todd. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Kathy Sampsell; sister, Marion Billheimer; granddaughters, Ashlee (Scot) Bunge, Adrienne (fiancé, Brent) McLaughlin, Alyssa McLaughlin; great-grandchildren, Cierra Bunge, Hailee Foster, Ava Bunge; her furry companions, Shortcake and Pudding and nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) and Friday from 10-11:00 a.m. A Funeral Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday in the Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
