Joan Ruth (Petitjean) Freeman, age 69, a longtime resident of Toledo, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, while under the care of Hospice of Northwest Ohio. She was born November 14th, 1941 to Alpha and Ruth (George) Petitjean in Shelby County, Ohio. Joan was a loving wife, mother, sister and grandmother and she will be dearly missed by those who knew her. After retiring, Joan enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family and friends. She was an avid fan of Curling and has played the game since 1974.
In addition to her parents, Joan was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Petitjean. She is survived by her dear, husband of 49 ½ years, Leon C. Freeman; daughters, Elisa (Doug) Keith and Denise Freeman; sons, Carl (Kelly) Freeman and Russell (Denise) Freeman; brothers, Denny (Marilyn) Petitjean, Bob Petitjean, Bill Petitjean and Carl (Joyce) Petitjean and sister, Doris (John) Dorner; 7 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. Joan will also be missed by several nieces, nephews and dear friends.
At Joan's request there will be no visitation.
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Joan's life on Friday, September 9th, 2011 at the Maumee Eagles, 2301 Detroit Ave. from 12-2:00 p.m.
