Joan M. Pickerel, age 80, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Sunday, March 23, 2014 at the Lutheran Village at Wolf Creek surrounded by her five children. She was born on September 12, 1933 to Jay and Dorothy (Stock) Crawford in Toledo. Joan was a longtime member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. She was employed with Kmart for 18 years in food service before retiring. Joan enjoyed crocheting and talking on the phone. She loved spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Pickerel; brother, Jay Crawford, Jr. and sister, Dorothy Brown. Joan is survived by her loving children, Jeff Pickerel, Deb (Steven) Burton, Jenny (Ken) Snyder, Julie (Wyiatt) Kosier and David Pickerel; 14 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Friday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Bradford Scott. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
