Joan J. Collum, age 77, left the loving arms of her family for the loving arms of the Lord on May 21, 2014. She was born on December 28, 1936 in Toledo, Ohio.
Joan worked as an Accountant for many area businesses throughout the years. The most memorable were Toledo Metroparks, Central Catholic H.S. and CraftHouse Co. Family was always her first priority and greatest joy. Joan was a cheerleader at Waite H.S. and continued to be a cheerleader throughout her life celebrating her children and grandchildren's every accomplishment, always in the front row. She was an avid Michigan Football fan and was known for hosting an annual Ohio State/Michigan party. Joan loved having her family and friends all together to celebrate the holidays, she especially enjoyed over-feeding everyone!
Joan was preceded in death by her mother, Denise Hannan and step-father, Ralph Bowes. Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband of 48 years, Don; children, Linnae (Mark) Clinton, Marcia (Mike) Culling, Kathy (Rick) Ruple; sister, Beverly Reno; grandchildren, Nicholas Juliano, Joshua (Sally) Culling, Matthew Culling, Becca Ruple and great-granddaughter, Piper Culling.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 11:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). The Funeral Service will begin at 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to: The American Diabetes Association.
