Joan P. Canning, age 76, of Toledo, passed away Monday, October 2, 2006 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 10, 1930 to Edward and Alma (Silsdorf) Stachowski in Toledo. Joan enjoyed arts and crafts, putting puzzles together and playing tennis. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Canning and grandson, Josh Mahon.
Joan is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Jack Canning; daughter: Lorie (Ray) Krupp; son: Chris (Kathie) Canning; daughter-in-law: Debra (Dennis) Mahon; grandchildren: Steven, Kelly, Joey, Laurette, Angie (Jon), Drew, David (Jami), Mike (Renee), Mary (Patrick), Sara, Jessica, Cassie, Abbie and Sean; and 10 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, October 5, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., (419-473-0300) from 4 – 8:00 p.m. with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. Prayer Services will begin Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church. Officiating will be Fr. Michael O. Brown. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
