Jo Ann Kornrumpf

Jo Ann (Almanza) Kornrumpf, age 63, formerly of Maumee, OH passed away Saturday, March 2nd. Jo Ann was born in San Antonio, TX in 1955 and was one of 10 siblings. Jo Ann and her younger siblings moved to Maumee, OH and lived in the Miami Children's Home. Jo Ann was welcomed into a loving foster home during her high school years and was a graduate of Maumee High School in 1973.

She married and had 3 children and lived in Sylvania, OH for more than 25 years. In her later years she remarried to Fred Kornrumpf. Fred and Jo Ann were high school friends that rekindled in 2008. They were recently married on July 1, 2017. Jo Ann excelled at helping others and being an extraordinary mother and friend. She found her biggest success as a grandmother to 9 grandchildren. She loved her Toledo family and friends and was a proud member of the women's auxiliary Riverview Yacht Club.

Jo Ann was diagnosed with colon cancer and fought a long hard battle for 6 years. She passed peacefully and gently surrounded by her loved ones. She is proceeded in death by her parents Joseph and Celia Almanza, and sister Diane Hackney, foster parents Neal and Mariam Chandler, foster brothers Neal and Tim Chandler.

She is survived by her husband of 2 years, Fred Kornrumpf; daughters, Emily Wares (Vanderzwart); and her husband Sam Wares, 2 grandsons Leo and Ellis; daughter, Lia Ryan (Vanderzwart); and her husband Matthew Ryan and 2 granddaughters Rosemary and Alyson, son, Neal Vanderzwart; and wife Erin Vanderzwart, 2 granddaughters Madeline and Abigail. Step-son Ronald Kornrumpf; and his wife Helena, 3 grandsons Lucas, Jonathan, and Thomas. Foster Sister Lynn Chandler husband Ric Bacus. Sisters Rachel Martinez (Almanza) and husband David Martinez, Elizabeth Kapela (Almanza) and husband Jim Kapela, and Christine Parra (Almanza) and husband Victor Parra, brother Jerry Almanza and wife Elvira Almanza, sister Sally (Almanza) Segarra and husband Richard, sister Olga (Almanza) Alvarado and husband Catrino, brother Ruben Almanza and wife Becky and numerous nieces and nephews and friends.
