Jimmie J. White

June 10, 1929 — February 10, 2017

Jim was born on June 10th, 1929, in Richmond Indiana to Wilma and Lester White. He was home with his wife Mary when he passed away on February 10, 2017, just two days before their 68th wedding anniversary.

After graduating from Napoleon High School, Jim attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. During the Korean War he served as a military policeman, even an artist for the military. All his life, Jim earned his living as a commercial illustrator. Over the decades, his art studio, Advertising Arts, flourished and spawned many illustrators, calligraphers and designers.

His wife and high school sweetheart states, "Since I've known him, I have never known him to refuse help or favors for anyone." And there were many requests…

His great joy was creating landscapes and portraits in oils and charcoal. He belonged to the Hyder Portrait Group, the Monday Morning Painters, the Pallette Club and the Art Klan. His artistic skills were well known. Although he shunned notoriety, he regularly won acclaim for his work. He inspired countless artists, and one of his favorite things to do was to hand his brushes to on-looking children, encouraging them to "daub some paint" onto his canvas. Many of his paintings have children's signatures along side his at the bottom.

Jim was a true Renaissance Man. Self taught in most everything he did, he designed and built two homes and a sports car.

Jim and Mary also created a wonderful family, who were all on-hand to help during his fight with lung cancer. Son Kim (wife Kimberly), son Kelly, daughter Kerry, son James Kevin (wife Wendy) and daughter Kristen (husband Bob), as well as four grandchildren: Kyle and Lindsay, Ryan and Chelsea.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and caregivers of Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their unfailing help. There will be no visitation, services are private with the family.

Any memorials may be to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, or a charity of choice.
