Jesus Contreras

Jesus Contreras, age 62, of Toledo, passed away October 5, 2024 surrounded by his family. He was born August 25, 1962 in Chicago, IL to Ignacio and Diamantina (Santos) Contreras. 

Graduating from Defiance High School in 1980, Jesus lived a life of service. In early adulthood he earned recognition for his role in young adult ministry with the Catholic Diocese of Toledo.

Later, as an associate for several national as well as small businesses, he was in front line service to customers as that is what he has always excelled in. He reluctantly retired from employment after many years with the Eljoubeily family and Rabia, whom he considered a brother.

Jesus tried to make himself available to listen to anyone who needed advice or just wanted to talk no matter the time of day or night. He conducted himself with; abundant generosity, commitment to family and a philosophical ideal that there are no strangers, only friends that we haven't met yet. He enjoyed many interests throughout his life including; The Chicago Cubs, Da Bears, music,woodworking, movies, good food and drink and both Marvel as well as DC comics, with The Incredible Hulk being his favorite. We will cherish his memory especially his natural comedic ability, and his infectious smile.

In addition to his parents, Jesus was also preceded in death by his siblings, Ignacio Contreras Jr, Roberto Contreras and Sylvia Cooke. He is survived by his significant other, Sharon Long; children, Christina Contreras, Jesus (Melanie) Contreras, Maria Contreras and Samuel Pozsik; grandchildren, Peyton Sawyer, Harley Contreras, Lincoln Marko and Calvin Marko; sisters, Maria (Stanley) Hilton, Emma (William) Davis, Gloria Turner and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests, Friday, October 18, 2024 from 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). The family will receive guests Saturday, October 19, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 4227 Bellevue Road, Toledo, OH where a Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m.
