Jerry W. Watkins, age 51, of Holland, passed away on, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo, where he was surrounded by his loving family. Jerry passed away after a very brave battle after recently being diagnosed with cancer. He was born on October 23, 1962 to Gerald "Jerry" and Fran (Luff) Watkins in Toledo. He married Laurie (Shagena) Watkins on April 4, 1986 in Toledo. Jerry worked for D.G. Slurry Seal for over 10 years as the foreman, having worked various positions within the company. While working for the sealing company, he truly enjoyed the work he completed and it showed in his dedicated work ethic, even up until his passing. Jerry also enjoyed the camaraderie that he shared with his boss, Don Ginter.
Most important to Jerry was his family, especially his precious grandchildren. He was very supportive of all of their interests and hobbies. Another interest that Jerry enjoyed was riding on his Harley Ultra Classic with his wife. He was a faithful brother of I.R.A. (Independent Riders Assoc.) where he was presented with the Member of the Year Award for 2013. In his spare time he enjoyed deer hunting, grilling, attending his grandson's Saturday night motocross races and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 27 years, Laurie Watkins; children, Nikki (Steve) Spino and Brad (Jen) Schalow; grandchildren, Kelsey, Madison, Olivia, Ethan and Lillie; great-grandson, Toby James; mother, Fran Watkins; brothers, Bob and Jim Watkins and his very special sister, Missy (Denny) Johnson; many nieces, nephews and other relatives; host of dear friends and club brothers.
