Jerry R. Cooper, age 72, a longtime resident of Wauseon, Ohio, passed away Thursday, November 9, 2006 in Heartland of Wauseon. He was born January 3, 1934 to Richard and Clarissa (Bently) Cooper in Defiance, Ohio. Jerry was a Veteran of the Korean War. He owned a family business, Cooper & Son Roofing Company for more than 20 years. Jerry enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing horseshoes. Jerry had a musical talent for the guitar and was a member of a gospel quartet having recorded two albums in Nashville.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his daughter, Nancy Lynn Frey and siblings, Alan Cooper; Viola Jean Holt; Nora Lee Jesse; Dick Cooper; Jack Cooper and Jim Cooper. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Janet Lee (Brink) Cooper; son, Michael (Lisa) Cooper; son-in-law, Rick Frey; grandchildren, Buffy; Melissa; Janel and Lindy; great grandchildren, Zachary; Maryn; Nancy; Beau and Peyton and step-grandchildren, Tyler and Kyle.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 4-9:00 p.m. and Monday from 10-11:00 a.m. at the First Church of God, 507 N. Fulton St., Wauseon, Ohio. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 11:00 a.m. in the church. Officiating will be Rev. Wesley W. Glines. Interment will follow in Wauseon Union Cemetery.
